QUICK NEWS

It is our pleasure to announce that Students for a Safer Southside (SFSS) and the Alcohol Policy Network (Community Recovery Services) were awarded a grant from the US Department of Education that will keep SFSS funded another two years. We were one of seventeen awardees nationwide, and the only small community-based organization to be awarded a grant. For more information, please click here.

SFSS was awarded a Bears Breaking Boundaries grant from UC Berkeley in the amount of $3,000, thanks to SFSS member Amber Woodburn who wrote the proposal for the grant competition. Kudos to Amber! For more information, please click here.

The Berkeley City Council recently passed a Social Host Ordinance in the City of Berkeley. For more information, please click here.

On June 10th, 2007 the Berkeley City Council supported a draft ordinance to establish operating standards on alcohol outlets. For more information, you can click here, where it will be item #32, or contact the Berkeley Alcohol Policy Advocacy Coalition.
